Job description

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

ALTEN is a multinational group created more than 30 years ago, specialized in consulting services, information technology and engineering services to the main companies in the market. We achieved a turnover of more than 4.14 billion euros in 2024 and now have 57 700 employees, 88% of whom are consulting engineers.

ABOUT PORTO & POSITION:

To support our European intensive growth, the Group has decided to build a large Shared Services Center based in Porto. In this context, we are seeking a Cloud Data Engineer to join our Shared Services Centre and support the overall ongoing Transformation Program.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Data & Analytics team. As a Cloud Data Engineer, you will design and implement the Modern Data Platform on Microsoft Fabric, build scalable data pipelines, and lead the migration of legacy BI to Azure.

The Challenge we have for you:

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing our Modern Data Platform on Microsoft Fabric, including the creation of a robust Lakehouse architecture, data pipelines, and governance frameworks. You will lead the modernization of existing BI solutions to cloud-based architectures on Azure, ensuring that best practices for MDM, data modeling, and data quality are applied throughout the process. Your role will also involve developing and maintaining high-performance ETL/ELT pipelines, collaborating closely with business and IT teams across multiple countries to deliver reliable and scalable solutions. You will ensure that all data processes comply with security and regulatory requirements in a multi-entity environment. Finally, you will prepare the foundation for future team growth by establishing technical standards and acting as a reference point for data engineering excellence.

In your first year, you will deliver the initial MVP of the Modern Data Platform on Fabric, ensuring that the core architecture and governance principles are in place. You will lead the migration of critical BI reports and datasets from the legacy system to the new platform, while defining and implementing a comprehensive data governance and quality framework. You will also set up CI/CD pipelines to industrialize data workflows and reporting processes, ensuring scalability and reliability. Throughout this period, you will act as the technical reference for all data-related initiatives within the Group, laying the groundwork for future expansion and innovation.
